Warwickshire Cares - Better Together

The £3.8 billion Better Care Fund (BCF), known locally as Warwickshire Cares – Better Together, was announced by the Government in the June 2013 Spending Round, to support the transformation and integration of health and social care services to ensure local people receive better care. The BCF is a pooled budget that allows health and social care commissioning services that are more joined up.

In June 2014, an additional £1 billion of NHS funding was added to the BCF across England to be used to commission out of hospital services and reduce emergency admissions. Together with Warwickshire County Council and our local CCG colleagues we have submitted our proposal, which is all about a shared vision for working
collaboratively across Warwickshire’s health and social care system and looks forward to 2019/20
and beyond. The agreed aims are:

• People are helped to remain healthy and independent;
• People are empowered to play an active role in managing their own care and the care they receive;
• People get the right service at the right time and in the right place – (this means services will envelop individuals close to their home).

We are delighted to announce our plans have been approved and we are all now working towards an official launch date of 1st April 2015.

To create a clear picture of what we are planning and how we aim to achieve our objectives,
we’ve developed a ‘plan on a page’, which sets out our plans in an effective and easy-to-read
